I made this image a couple weeks ago while out shooting with friend and fellow photographer Wayne Simpson. We shoot together quite often so, if you’ve followed my blog for long, you’ll surely recognize his name. If not, be sure to go check out his work over on his website and prepare to be impressed.
We were doing a little bit of testing in the field that morning, comparing how our wide angle lenses rendered the sunstar. After shooting some images in the trees (see last week’s photo of the week for those), we headed out to where we had a clear view of the sky to try a few other things. What started off with us using the lines of the crest of this little hill to compose a shot soon saw us taking turns putting each other in the shot. It very quickly escalated from there (in typical boyish fashion) to us hurling ourselves off the edge and trying to catch a shot in mid air.
While well known for his work behind the camera, it is a rare occasion to find Wayne on the other side of the lens!
Nice shot! I look like I have a third leg in place of my arm!
